José Ángel Valdés, known as Cote, has been chosen by the fans as the standout player of the season at Sporting and has therefore received the Mahou Cinco Estrellas trophy. The Gijón-born full-back, one of the captains of the red and white team, was the first to comment on the departure of Miguel Ángel Ramírez. “I am tremendously sad because, above all, he is a great person, as is his coaching staff,” said the Asturian footballer.
Cote described Ramírez and his team as “incredible.” “Their personality made day-to-day life very easy; the training sessions were excellent and always made you happy,” he explained.
He added, “Last year, I don’t know if I stood up for Ramírez, but I already said how I felt: he was a great coach and did exciting things. I am sad he is leaving, but I thank him for raising my level and helping me become more methodical. I hope things go well for him and we see each other again.”
