The Argentine coach, Martín Anselmi, is 90 minutes away from achieving a new international title for Independiente del Valle.
On the night of this Wednesday, 7 September 2022, he beat Melgar 3-0 at the UNSA Monumental Stadium (6-0 on aggregate). This result gave them the pass to the final that will take place on 1 October at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium in Córdoba, Argentina.
Anselmi will try to become the second coach to win an international title for the ‘Matagigantes’. Repeating what was achieved in 2019 by Miguel Ángel Ramírez in the South American Cup, where he officiated as assistant manager.
He arrived at Independiente in May 2019 when Ramírez was appointed coach of the first team, replacing Ismael Rescalvo, who left for Emelec de Guayaquil.
That same year, the Rayados won their first Copa Sudamericana title after defeating Colón de Santa Fe, Argentina, in the only final played at La Nueva Olla Stadium in Asunción, Paraguay, 3-1, with goals from Luis Fernando León, Jhon Jairo Sánchez and Cristian Dajome.
In March 2021 he continued his journey with Ramirez and they went to Internacional de Brasil. Poor results quickly cut their contract on June 11 of the same year, being the last team in which they worked together.
