Football is experiencing a new baby boom in the United States. It began to break through in the late 1970s, concurring with the arrival of Franz Beckenbauer and Pelé (New York Cosmos) and Johan Cruyff (Los Angeles Aztecs and Washington Diplomats) in the NASL.
It came back in the 90s with the creation of the USA’94 World Cup and Major League Soccer (MLS). The iconic generation led by Tony Meola, Alexi Lalas, Tab Ramos, Eric Wynalda, Cobi Jones, Claudio Reyna, and John Harkes… generated an excellent breeding ground.
